pH balance and external intimate care

Intimate-care information often uses the words vulva and vagina interchangeably. They describe different areas: the vulva is external, while the vagina is internal. That distinction matters when reading product directions.

Keep cleansing external

NHS guidance recommends gentle washing around the vagina and advises against washing inside it, also known as douching. Perfumed washes, deodorants and scented wipes can cause irritation.

What does a pH-balanced label tell you?

It describes an aspect of a product’s formulation. It does not mean that a cosmetic wash treats or prevents an infection, and it does not make the product suitable for internal use.

Where the Natures Flood products fit

Intimate Foam Wash is intended for external cleansing. Intimate Oil Serum is intended for moisturising external intimate skin. Follow the current label and do not use either product internally.

When to ask for advice

Changes in discharge, itching, soreness or pain deserve appropriate healthcare advice. A skincare product should not be used as a substitute for assessment or treatment.
